Matthew Randall - I am 13 (2015) and I've been building models for about four years. My main interest is railways but I will build anything ranging from a balsa wood Hurricane to a Gatling gun-equipped Humvee. My father is also a member of the club.
Supermarine Seafire Mk.XV, HMS Glory, Pacific theatre. Revell 1/48th scale.
Built in a weekend.
Humvee with scratch built minigun. Revell 1/72nd scale.
Vickers Viscount 80, S&M Models, 1/144 scale.
My entry for the 6 Month Challenge 2015 - a conversion(!) of the Viscount into a rocket sled for fuel testing. The label reads ...
"In the early 1950s, a British space program was launched. A rocket sled was built to test different fuel combinations and was tested in the Egyptian desert. The sled was named 'Eagle' after Eagle Airways, the main sponsor. Vickers also sponsored the program and had a significant impact on the design. The space program was however scrapped after it was realised that the Americans had pinched all the Nazi rocket technology needed to make rapid progress. All the sponsors eventually pulled out due to lack of progress."
The desert is made from builders sharp sand. The sled body is sprayed with Humbrol polished steel (aluminium being out of stock everywhere).
This was one of two prize winners in the 2015 competition.

Westland Whirlwind, Airfix 1/72nd scale.
A Westland Whirlwind air racer in a custom red/black livery. It had been painted in camouflage coplours but the decals were lost, and thus the air racer idea germinated. I used left-over decals from an ancient kit (Hawker Siddeley HS-125).
Station Kiosk, Airfix OO/HO scale.
A station kiosk OOB build for my model railway.
Taff Vale tank locomotive. LTS, 1/72nd scale.
Stripped down and re-built and re-painted.
Taff Vale Locomotive
Ffestiniog Railway workman's coaches and WHR brake van.
RAF SE5a, 1/144th scale. Whitre metal - kit manuafacturer not supplied.
It's an absolute pain to build, but well worth the effort.
