Our experiences and model displays at the REME model shows in Arborfield ...
2015 - 22 March
Les was our intrepid roving reporter for the 2015 show and this was what he had to say ... "The show was attended by Les, Martin and Michael and his son Christian and was as enjoyable as the last two years with the sun shining down. There was a lot of interest in the club stand and the attendance was good throughout the whole day. There were a fair number of traders in attendance for a relatively small show with one coming from as far as Glasgow (well done M.A.N. models) It wasn't even spoilt by someone bringing a model aeroplane. (sorry about that). The day was rounded off by Martin winning the figure competition with his vignette of three female members of the military as well as Christian coming second in the Junior competition. Overall a good time was had by all. It's unfortunate this is the last show at this venue as the museum is moving later this year."
For the record, t'Dave and Dave H travelled down to the show as visitors without showing any models. Les also took a few photos of our presentation table which you can see below, although it looks like he forgot to take some of the models brought by Michael and Christian! Fortunately, Michael also took a few photos, but not enough of his own! Clearly the modesty needs some levelling out! ;-)
2014 - 13th April
This year Tony, Les, Chris M, Dave W, Keith and Martin made the short trip down the road to Arborfield to represent the club. The sun was shining, which always helps, and a good spread of clubs and a few traders made for an enjoyable day for all concerned. We had 40+ models on the table. This will be the last year that this show will be at this site as the REME museum is moving to a new site at Lyneham in Wiltshire. Les Clancy received a second place in the competition with his Sherman AFV Mk1. Good job Les made an exception for this show as he seldom enters competitions. Thanks to Tony for the photos.
2013 - 14th April
Surrounded by specialist armoured vehicles, wartime transport and modern fighting equipment, the first REME Museum Model Show included a number of visiting model clubs and REME’s own model collection of models on display throughout the museum. Les, Chris, Dave, Keith and Martin made the short trip down the road to Arborfield. Hopefully we fitted in well with the theme of the show and feedback from those involved was very positive. They were very keen to return for another show. Here are some photos of our display (thanks to Les for the photos)
